Let Me Show You Who I Am is a series of workshops devised by Superprojects in partnership with artist Alice Rekab and the collective Éireann and I for the 6th class students of Adamstown Educate Together school in Dublin.

Guided by a group of talented artists students created symbols with their names, shared stories about their favourite belongings, learnt how to hip-hop dance and explored the power of music. Through visual art, performance, storytelling, music and dance they learnt how to tell their personal stories and share their identities and cultures with others.

The workshops were held between: 8-10 November 2022; closing event 24 April 2023.

“We are interested in working with children in 6th class because this is a time when young people develop a keen awareness of their identity that they carry through into their young adult life. We choose visual art, storytelling and performance as our media because of their shared importance within Irish and African cultures.”

“Building awareness and respect for the richness of African culture and amplifying shared cultural practices such as storytelling and performance to build a sense of community and dynamic hybridity within the classroom.”
